House of Normal Update
House of Normal Update
Hello everyone, and thank you to all who’ve signed up for a free account or are able to support us financially. Your encouragement keeps me motivated and helps fund our future creative projects.
I wanted to give you a bit of an update on how things are going, and what we’re planning next.
It’s been a pretty challenging process getting everything set up — the main website, this Fourthwall site, and all the socials — but now that it's all live and functioning, I’m happy with how it looks and works. That means it’s finally time to shift focus and start producing more creative content.
I’m currently supported by the Australian Government’s Small Business Assistance program, which has been incredibly helpful. That support ends in October, though, so I’m using the next three months to build momentum and set things in motion for the long term.
Until now, I’ve been working on art, animation, and game design with the aim of landing freelance contracts. But after months of refining what I actually want to do, I’ve realised I’d much rather focus full-time on personal projects — making regular animations, digital and traditional artworks, and building a community around our creative life.
Along the way, we also realised as a family that it’s not just about art. Our day-to-day life is filled with creative pursuits, and we’ve been slowly working toward something bigger for the past 10 years.
After a lot of testing, tweaking, and a few returns to the drawing board, we’re excited to say that House of Normal is now officially built around three main pillars:
-
Creative Projects — Art, animation, illustration, craft, and game development (board games, card games, video games — even Suki has made her own board game!)
-
Gaming & Entertainment — Minecraft SMP, family gaming, and wholesome fun
-
Microfarming & Lifestyle — Home-grown food, local living, and a slower, more intentional way of life
This reflects how we actually live, and by sharing it, we hope to show others that this kind of lifestyle is not only possible — it’s rewarding.
To support this, we’ve relaunched our YouTube channel and started streaming regularly again. We’re now live three times a week, each stream aligned with one of our pillars:
-
Monday – Gaming
-
Wednesday – Art & Creative
-
Friday – Lifestyle & Homegrown living
All streams are family-friendly and PG-rated.
We’re also uploading three YouTube videos each week, following a 3-week rotating schedule:
-
Mondays – One long video
-
Wednesdays and Fridays – Two themed Shorts
Weekly Focus:
-
Week 1 – Gaming
-
Week 2 – Lifestyle
-
Week 3 – Art / Creative
(Then it loops again.)
As part of this, all videos will be uploaded here on TheSketchbook.house, too.
Due to Fourthwall’s policies, posted videos are only visible to paid members — but I’ve made them available to all tiers, so you’ll always be able to watch them ad-free.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll also be uploading some of the older YouTube content to this site, so everything lives in one place. These will be organised into video series for easier browsing.
Once again, thank you so much for your support.
Now it’s time to climb the next mountain.
